Filecoin launches new network Calibration and enters a two-week "calibration period"

Filecoin official Slack released a message: a new development network called "Calibration" will be launched, and the original test network will continue to run. The new network is expected to be launched at 1:00 on July 21.

At the same time, Filecoin will enter a two-week calibration period (July 20 to August 2) starting today. During the two-week calibration period, miners can debug and calibrate in a real competition environment and see how their results affect the competition rankings. These will be run on a new development network with all the latest features and optimizations. After that, the Filecoin Testnet will be reset, and the three-week competition will officially begin on August 3 (the week).

During the 2-week calibration period, Filecoin officials strongly encourage miners to shift their main attention and focus on the Space Race developer platform to discover and debug any problems in the setup before the competition begins.

In fact, Filecoin has been planning to release the testnet incentive plan on July 20, but heard strong requests from the community to create a window for competition participants to try out the latest features of mining equipment and knowledge competition conditions, including leaderboards, storage and retrieval transaction evaluation systems, and updated economic parameters. Many improvements have been made in the past few weeks, and miners and developers alike want to ensure that they are well tested before competing. Therefore, a 2-week calibration period was added before the 3-week competition.
