OKEx operator sues user, demands return of “stolen” Bitcoin

According to BlockBeats, the overseas digital currency trading platform OKEx ("OKEx") has recently entrusted the lawyer team of Zhang Lei from Beijing Tianda Gonghe Law Firm to sue Deng Mouming from Sichuan, demanding that he return a number of bitcoins "stolen" on the OKEx platform. It is reported that the case was officially filed in the People's Court of Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province on July 25, 2020.

According to lawyer Zhang Lei, on November 14, 2019, Deng Mouming took advantage of a short-term system technical failure in OKEx and changed a certain amount of low-value digital currency into an equal amount of BTC (Bitcoin) through multiple accounts under his control, and transferred it to an account under his control. Since Aux Cayes Fintech Co. Ltd. ("Aux Company"), the operating entity of OKEx, is an overseas company, and Deng Mouming's operation method is very covert and sophisticated, OKEx has been struggling to recover its rights from Deng Mouming for more than half a year. Lawyer Zhang Lei said that the case had caused OKEx millions of yuan in losses by the time of the lawsuit. In order to safeguard its own legitimate rights and interests, OKEx commissioned a domestic lawyer team to initiate a lawsuit against Deng Mouming to recover the relevant losses.

It is reported that the case was officially filed in the People's Court of Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province on July 25, 2020.

Since this case involves the field of Bitcoin and other digital currencies, it is a relatively new case accepted by the court in recent years. The case is currently under trial, and it is believed that the parties will soon receive the judgment of the local court.
