js-ipfs 0.41.0 has been released. This version has completed a huge reconstruction of the js-ipfs internal component HU, which can switch to using Promises and async/await over Callbacks and using asynchronous iterable objects.


New improvements to IPFS Bitswap Bitswap is IPFS's mechanism for transferring file fragments between two or more peers. To speed things up further, the IPFS team cut the transfer time in half for a benchmark use case around container distribution.

In order to improve the performance and efficiency of Bitswap, the IPFS team made some changes to the way Bitswap extracts blocks. In addition, a performance comparison table before and after the improvements was made.

To simulate this environment, Netflix and IPFS collaborated to create p2plab to measure the throughput of data transfer on the IPFS network in a multi-region cluster.


Berty released gomobile-ipfs which aims to provide packages for Android, iOS, and React-Native that allow them to run and use IPFS nodes on mobile devices.

New browser based on IPFS The newly launched browser supports non-custodial decentralized networks such as IPFS, can access peer-to-peer based websites, and can also run a local instance of IPFS with files hosted on IPFS.

js-ipfs 0.42.0 released This version brings many bug fixes and other small stability improvements. It reduces the size of the minified bundle by 7.5% to enable faster downloads and more responsive web applications.


IPFS Grant Platform The IPFS Grant Platform aims to help the community coordinate and fund the production of WEB3.0-friendly tools to increase the adoption and usability of IPFS.

Filecoin Mainnet Progress Update


According to the latest roadmap, the mainnet is expected to be launched between August 31 and September 21. Since the testnet was opened, miners around the world have joined the Filecoin testnet mining army.

The "Filecoin Accelerator" is now open for application. The Filecoin Accelerator will focus on building more open, interoperable, and programmable tools, infrastructure, and startup applications for distributed networks through IPFS and Filecoin.
