The "Iceberg Model" defined by "Force Operation and Maintenance" has been mentioned several times before. There are three main data points that Filecoin Space Competition analysis nodes need to focus on: node single T revenue , node total revenue , and node block efficiency . These three points can make it easier to explore the healthy status of node operation .
The analysis of node single T revenue includes horizontal comparison with other nodes and vertical comparison with the entire network; the node total revenue curve is a powerful reference for evaluating the stability of the node and its voice in the network ; and the concept of block efficiency ( i.e. lucky deviation) is defined in " Iceberg Model 2: Why are the node block efficiency and single T revenue of the Force Operation and Maintenance so outstanding?" : "Lucky deviation" represents the difference between the actual reward and the theoretical reward. If the actual reward is higher than the theoretical reward, the lucky deviation value is positive, otherwise it is negative ", so the block efficiency can briefly represent the node's ability to capture expected revenue.
In a public chain ecosystem, there are many objective and controllable factors that affect the total revenue of nodes, mainly including changes in the "total computing power of the entire network" and "token release volume", and they also directly affect the single T revenue of the node , while the block production efficiency is not directly affected by them.

Lucky Value in BTC and Filecoin



The concept of luck value originally came from BTC mining. Figure 1 shows the performance of luck deviation within the node cycle of large BTC miners (BTC generally takes 72 hours, and Filecoin takes 24 hours). It can be seen here that whether the luck deviation is positive or negative has no direct relationship with the size of the miner. It fluctuates with the passage of time and averages to 100% after a long period of time.

Interestingly, mining efficiency in the Filecoin network is not a matter of chance. Through optimization, miners can continuously obtain returns that are higher than expected . That is, the average number of tickets that nodes can obtain per T ( tickets can represent income , and the FIL income per ticket changes with the growth of the network) is higher and more sustained than the average of the entire network.

Here, the ticket output per terabyte can be split into two variable data , namely, the block output per terabyte and the ticket output per block . The key point of this article is to observe the joint effect of the two variables to evaluate the node mining efficiency.

The author uses the computing power, block production, and ticket issuance data of the entire network as a reference, and compares the computing power, block production, and ticket issuance of t02438 (the representative of the Force node ) as a node sample. Through data processing, it is found that compared with the average level of the entire network, t02438's single T block production capacity is strong, and the overall performance can be maintained higher than expected, indicating that human technical intervention can be made to improve luck . The following is the data processing process.

Deviation of T02438



The data is from the network block height hight1 - hight24548 ( i.e. from the network launch to around 8 pm on September 2). During this period, the total number of blocks produced by the entire network was 85308, and the total number of tickets issued in the block was 94663. The current version (same as the main network) runs stably at a height of 30s, so the height increases by 2880 every 24 hours. We simply define each increase of 2880 as a "natural day" , and take hight20160 - hight23040 from hight1 - hight24548 as a set of data, that is, the eighth "natural day".
 
In the eighth "natural day", the network produced 10346 blocks and 11120 tickets. This data is used as a reference standard for the mining efficiency level of the entire network. The network has been growing steadily by 10P per day since the entire space race , and the growth curve is very stable. By investigating the median and average values ​​of the computing power per day, it is found that the two are at the same level. Here, the average value of 76184T can be taken as the total computing power level of the network on this natural day .
 
Similarly, through data screening , T02438 has 451 blocks and 494 tickets in this group of data, and has been growing steadily at an average level of 350-400T per day since its operation ; similarly, the median of the node is similar to the average, and 2580T is taken as the computing power level of T02438 .

Therefore, we get the following data (eighth natural day):
  • The total number of blocks produced per T in the entire network = 10346 / 76184 = 0.1358 blocks /T

  • T02438 single T block = 451 / 2580 = 0.1748 block /T


T02438 block probability deviation = T02438 single T block / whole network single T block = 0.1748 / 0.1358 = 128.72%

  • Average number of tickets issued per block in the entire network = 11120 / 10346 = 1.0748 tickets /block

  • T02438 average number of tickets issued per block = 494 / 451 = 1.0953 tickets /block


T02438 ticket issuance probability deviation = T02438 single block ticket issuance / average ticket issuance per block in the entire network = 1.0953 / 1.0748 = 101.91%
 
Based on the deviation rate of the node's single T block and single block ticket within this range, the node's final single T ticket deviation, that is, the mining efficiency or lucky deviation, can be obtained:
T02438 single T ticket deviation = single T block deviation * single block ticket deviation = (T02438 single T block / single T block of the whole network) * (T02438 single block ticket / average ticket per block of the whole network) = 128.72% * 101.91% =   131.25%

Additional benefits of T02438



The data sample goes back to hight1 - hight24548, and we can get 9 sets of data in Figure 5 (nearly 9 days):

Omitting the repeated calculation process in the previous article, we can finally get the deviation performance of block and ticket issuance in 9 natural days T02438:

Converting the ticket revenue data into an area view, during this nearly 9-natural-day mining cycle, T02438 not only captured the expected revenue, but also obtained additional revenue in the orange area. This is because the mining efficiency continues to maintain an advantage of more than 100%, and the overall ROI remains at 1.2-1.3 .

Therefore, for Filecoin , mining efficiency is not a matter of chance. By optimizing the efficiency of single T block and single block ticket, miners can continue to get returns higher than expected.
