IPFS Weekly Issue 104: Quick Reading of Important Events This Week

Welcome to IPFS Weekly

The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) ( https://ipfs.io/ ) is a new hypermedia distribution protocol, addressable by content and identity. IPFS enables the creation of fully distributed applications. Its goal is to make the web faster, more secure, and more open. Due to the large scope, this weekly newsletter aims to track developments across the ecosystem.

This is what is happening in the Interplanetary File System ecosystem!

Join us for our community meetup on Thursday

It’s September, and it’s time for the IPFS community to get together again! This month we’ll have guests from IoTeX, the people behind Ucam, the creators of IPFS Recovery, updates from the go-IPFS maintainers, and more. Sign up for lightning talks and share what you’ve built with IPFS!

Chrome beta adds support for ipfs:// and ipns://

Hot on the heels of Chromium’s support for dweb protocols, including ipfs://, Chrome Beta announced that it has expanded its safelist of distributed web schemes to registerProtocolHandler(). IPFS is included alongside cabal, dat, dake, dweb, ethereum, hyper, ipns, and ssb.

Interested in putting your IPFS project on Filecoin?

Calling all builders! We are looking for as many IPFS projects as possible to integrate with Filecoin by September 18th. ProtocolLabs can provide grants for large projects that can potentially meet this timeline, as well as support from our engineering team and community. Learn how to deploy your application to the network and tools like Textile Powergate that make integration easier. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact [email protected].

ETHGlobal's largest event of the year

Next month, ETHGlobal kicks off 30 days of hackathons, summits, workshops, and events at the biggest event of the year, focused on the idea that Ethereum can change things. With over $20,000 in prizes, what will you build?
