Ethereum Foundation announces additional $3.8 million in grants

In a post published on the Ethereum blog on Sept. 8 , the Ethereum Foundation, or EF for short, announced that it has awarded grants to teams as part of its ecosystem support program in the second quarter of 2020. Categories include teams focused on community and education, cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs, or ZKPs, developer experience, Ethereum 2.0, and layer 2.
The $3.884 million in funding will be distributed to 28 companies and researchers, including blockchain consultancy Akomba Labs for community and education, and Beacon Fuzz for finding causes of crashes and consensus errors on Ethereum 2.0.
“This list represents non-recurring funding from across the EF, including grants through our open inquiry process, commissioned field allocations and third-party funding,” the EF blog states. “As always, it’s been a privilege to work with these amazing projects and many more.”
The announcement comes a month after EF said it would establish a dedicated security team for Ethereum 2.0 to study any potential cybersecurity and cryptoeconomic issues in the next-generation Ethereum network.
