The circulation of Bitcoin has exceeded 18.5 million, and less than 2.5 million Bitcoins can be mined.

On September 28, according to ChartBTC’s Twitter account, the current market circulation of BTC, which has a total of 21 million, has exceeded 18.5 million. This means that there are less than 2.5 million bitcoins left to be mined, accounting for about 11.9% of the total bitcoin production.

ChartBTC points out that half of the remaining 2.5 million BTC will be mined in the next four years. Since the Genesis Block in 2009, the Bitcoin network has experienced three halvings, with the third halving taking place in May this year. Since the issuance of Bitcoin is halved every four years, it is expected that the last batch of Bitcoin will not be mined until 2140, after which no new Bitcoin will be generated through mining.

Institutional demand for Bitcoin has been growing steadily since the beginning of 2020. New survey data shows that institutional investors intend to increase their Bitcoin allocation, regardless of whether the short-term price trend is downward. Previously, MicroStrategy, a traditional business analysis giant, had just made Bitcoin part of the company's asset allocation and had purchased more than 38,000 BTC.
