Binhe Yunzhi's self-developed FPGA chip mining data exposed: FPGA chip + Intel processor efficiency is better than AMD3 series processors

On November 7, Binhe Yunzhi, a well-known domestic Filecoin mining machine manufacturer, and its subsidiary Xinsco held an FPGA chip launch conference in Hangzhou. At the conference, they launched the country's first FPGA chip for Filecoin mining. This chip is aimed at the P1 stage and can mainly realize the P1 stage SDR algorithm acceleration.

Compared with Bitcoin mining, the hardware evolution is also a transition process from general-purpose chips to special-purpose chips, from CPU to GPU to FPGA chips to ASCI chips. Filecoin mining is in the transition period of FPGA chips. The Chinese name of FPGA chip is field programmable gate array. In view of the current situation that the Filecoin mining algorithm has not been finalized, the advantage of FPGA chips is that they are highly compatible with different algorithms and have lower power consumption than graphics cards with the same computing power.

The FPGA chip released by Binhe Yunzhi can support processors without built-in HASH acceleration. This means that based on the current SDR algorithm, there is no need to use AMD processors, and Intel processors can also be used as computing devices.

Regarding this FPGA chip, Dr. Peng Bo, a chip R&D expert at Binhe Yunzhi, introduced: For the Intel E5 series + our first-generation FPGA acceleration card, in the P1 stage, after we optimized the data pre-fetching and pre-storage in terms of computing logic and data transmission timing, the sha256 calculation of each node data inside the FPGA reached 2400ns, consuming an average of about 42 minutes per layer, and each P1 task took 7-8 hours. The acceleration card can support 12 P1 tasks to be executed concurrently, which is equivalent to each machine. 1152G can be sealed per day. Compared with the current AMD3970x series daily limit sealing rate of 600-1000G, the efficiency improvement is considerable.

According to Dr. Peng, this chip is expected to be mass-produced by the end of December. It is reported that some manufacturers are looking for cooperation with Binhe Yunzhi. The launch of this FPGA chip officially kicked off the competition for Filecoin mining hardware. Next, Binhe Yunzhi will also launch FPGA chips for P2 and C2, which are expected to be officially launched in March-June next year. Compared with other mining machine manufacturers, Binhe Yunzhi is at the forefront in the field of special chip research and development. In the near future, if the official changes the SDR algorithm to the NSE algorithm, the advantage of hardware research and development capabilities will be further expanded.
