Biyin Mining Pool Releases Site to Assist in Activating Bitcoin Soft Fork Taproot

According to Chain News, Poolin (CoinIn) mining pool released the site "taprootactivation.github.io" to assist in activating Bitcoin's soft fork Taproot. Poolin said, "By combining Schnorr signatures with Merkel Abstract Syntax Tree (MAST) and Tapscript new scripting language, Taproot will greatly increase the flexibility of Bitcoin smart contracts while enhancing Bitcoin's privacy and scalability. Soft forks can be activated in a variety of ways, including Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 9 (BIP 9) and BIP 8 adopted by previous forks. The purpose of this site is to assist in activating the Taproot soft fork." Currently, Poolin has contacted several mining pools to find out whether they will support the Taproot upgrade, which activation method they prefer, and the threshold hash rate percentage that should be met for the activation upgrade. So far, Poolin and Slush Pool have expressed support for Taproot, among which Poolin prefers the BIP 9 activation method and Slush Pool prefers the BIP 8 activation method. Chain News notes that Taproot was first released by Bitcoin Core developer Greg Maxwell in January 2018. It provides a new level of privacy by keeping all transactions the same to observers of blockchain data, which is of great significance to Bitcoin scalability, fungibility, and script innovation. The Taproot code will be included in the upcoming Bitcoin Core 0.21.0 version.
