Montana-based crypto mining company Project Spokane has been sued by power company Energy Keepers Inc. for $3.7 million in unpaid electricity bills. On Dec. 14, Project Spokane asked a federal judge in Montana to dismiss the lawsuit, claiming that Hyperblock LLC, which acquired most of the mining company’s assets in 2018, was responsible for the debts. However, Hyperblock, which shares an owner, declared bankruptcy in March after the COVID-19 outbreak. The lawsuit, filed by EnergyKeepers in May, alleges that ProjectSpokane used its agreement with Hyperblock LLC to conspire not to pay its electricity bills to the power supplier. ProjectSpokane claims that the terms of its agreement with Hyperblock explicitly transferred its energy bills to Hyperblock. |
