ETH2.0 has locked up over $1 billion in Ethereum

According to Etherscan data, the total value of Ethereum locked in Ethereum 2.0 has exceeded $1 billion since the launch of the ETH2.0 beacon chain earlier this month.

• As of press time, there is approximately $1,033,261,422.14 in ETH locked on Ethereum 2.0.

• Ethereum is trading at around $672.72, up 7.13% over the past 24 hours.

• Ethereum, the world's largest smart contract platform, went online on December 1 after years of upgrading.

• The first phase of Ethereum 2.0’s development focuses on the creation of a separate proof-of-stake blockchain network called the Beacon Chain.

• On the beacon chain, Ethereum holders who hold at least 32 ETH can receive rewards in the form of annual interest on their staked ETH.

• Many major cryptocurrency exchanges, including Coinbase and Kraken, have introduced Ethereum 2.0 staking services to their users.

• Meanwhile, data from blockchain analytics firm CryptoQuant shows that the amount of Ethereum held in all exchange wallets has been declining since late June.
