How do internal overseas employees "complain" about Binance, Huobi, OK, and Bitmain?

There is a well-known software called Glassdoor overseas, where employees can rate their employers. Similar credible software has not yet appeared in China. As its influence grows, a large number of water armies have also appeared on it. The Wall Street Journal once reported how companies faked news on Glassdoor.

An author once compared the ratings of major Chinese Internet companies on Glassdoor and found that Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, Lenovo and others had high ratings, but Huawei, LeTV, Cheetah and others had low ratings, especially LeTV, which scored as low as an astonishing 1.7 points. (You can search for Elliott Zaagman's article)

The cryptocurrency industry has also seen the emergence of several well-known large companies in recent years, the largest of which are from China. How are they rated and evaluated by their overseas employees?

Coinbase: 3.7 Keywords: racial discrimination

Coinbase is the most rated cryptocurrency company on Glassdoor, with 150 reviews. Positive comments include good salary and benefits, and being a leading company in the industry; negative comments mainly involve the company's ban on political discussions and racial discrimination.

Binance 3.6 points Keywords: Emergency

Binance has 14 reviews. The positive reviews include flexible working hours and strong competitiveness in the industry. Negative reviews focus on "a lot of emergencies that need to be handled". An employee reported: "Everything is treated as an emergency", "New features are being tried almost every moment", and working hours are much longer than expected. (Judging from the high frequency of downtime on Binance, there may indeed be a lot of emergencies)

OKEx: 3.3 Keywords: Management chaos

OKEx has 16 reviews. Advantages include a very nice office environment; if the management changes, the company still has a lot of room for growth; disadvantages are concentrated on chaotic management, "KPIs are unclear and change every week."

Huobi: 2.8 points Keywords: Not international enough

Huobi has 33 reviews. Huobi seems to have attracted a large number of former employees to make emotional and offensive comments on Glassdoor due to management reasons in its branches in the United States and Singapore. Relatively rational comments believe that Huobi has a good brand, but is not international enough, the imprint of a Chinese company is too obvious, and many Chinese emails are sent to international employees. This also indirectly reflects that Huobi's executives lack overseas background and lag behind in internationalization.

Bitmain: 3.0 Keywords: Roadmap changes at will

Bitmain has 22 reviews. Positive reviews include attractive salaries, a good office environment, and not too busy work (Bitmain blindly recruited during the bull market, resulting in a large number of employees being idle); negative reviews focus on chaotic management, infighting, and arbitrary changes to the roadmap; the company's business is easily affected by market conditions.

Bybit: 4.0

Bybit is a rising derivatives exchange that has been increasing its overseas employees since its exit from China. However, there are obvious signs of trolls in the comments, with full-score comments concentrated in May and November 2020.

Pros include youth and rapid development. Negatives include: a frustrating, unfair, hierarchical and pushy culture within the company, which makes people worry about losing their jobs every day; and the fact that it is a Chinese company with little business in Singapore.

Summary: Although there are not many comments from overseas employees (strangely, Binance, as a global exchange, has the fewest comments from overseas employees), and there are also some water army comments that give full marks, many interesting details often appear:

For example, Binance always has "emergencies"; OKEx "has relatively chaotic management, and hopes that changes will bring about changes"; Huobi has a strong Chinese imprint and sends Chinese emails to overseas employees; Bitmain's roadmap changes every day, and employees are saturated and relaxed, etc.
