FIP-10 WindowPoSt can be put on the chain without verification, reducing the pressure on miners: The FIP-10 proposal describes that the Filecoin network will choose to trust miners, and optimistically accept and record without verification. In the next cycle, third-party questioners can question the proof submitted by miners, that is, introduce the DisputeWindowedPoSt method. If the question is successful, it means that the proof submitted by the miner is problematic, and the corresponding sector is also wrong. As a result, the miner will accept the penalty of the relevant computing power (until the correct WindowPoSt is submitted), and a corresponding proportion of the expected block reward will be deducted from the sector with the wrong proof. FIP-10 also describes that this plan only proposes an improvement direction, and there are still many details that need to be optimized and implemented.

Venus v0.9.0 has been released, and related nodes have been started: Currently, Venus v0.9.0 has been released, and the mainnet node f0128788 has been started based on this version. At the same time, this version has been released in the Tags/Releases package on Github. The launch of f0128788 is the first major milestone of Venus. It is the end of a development cycle and the beginning of the next stage. In the future, Venus will gradually improve in terms of stability and ease of use, and will also do more development work around the support of distributed mining pools.

Venus development progress last week:

  • Added interfaces and command lines for setting log levels and querying miner status to facilitate user query;

  • Re-adjusted the RPC monitoring code;

  • Optimized Tipset status cache and improved startup speed;

  • Simplified the program startup method and merged the init and deamon subcommands;

  • Refactoring and optimization of some codes.
