Foreign media: Most Bitcoin stakeholders support activating Taproot upgrade according to BIP8 (false)

According to CoinDesk on February 4, at a public meeting held on Tuesday, Bitcoin developers, miners, business professionals and enthusiasts discussed in detail how to package the Taproot upgrade as an update and how to activate it after the code is released. Most of the participants supported the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal BIP 8, which does not force activation. Meeting leader and Bitcoin core developer Michael Folkson noted that further discussions will determine the date for activation. Since miners have not shown resistance to Taproot, most participants prefer BIP8 (false). It is reported that the current design of BIP8 will give Bitcoin miners and full node operators a year to adopt the upgrade. |
