According to a new report from crypto market data aggregator Glassnode, Bitcoin whale users (Glassnode defines "whales" as addresses holding 1,000 to 10,000 BTC) sold a large amount of Bitcoin in February, about 140,000 Bitcoins, equivalent to $6.72 billion. The whales' buying spree peaked in January, when they snapped up 80,000 Bitcoins, worth $3.84 billion at today's prices. This week's 20% BTC price crash triggered a lot of action from whales, with one smart whale managing to cash out $156 million before the plunge began on Monday. |
