The name of EpiK also shows our expectations for what we are doing. The full name of EpiK is epigraphy knowledge, which means knowledge engraved in stone. IPFSNEWS: It is understood that there are many explorations of knowledge graphs in Internet companies, but not much progress has been seen. Are there any problems now? What benefits can be brought by integrating blockchain technology elements?

Eric from Mingshi Protocol: The openness of the underlying technology ecosystem is a trend, and it is difficult for a closed ecosystem to beat the growth rate of an open ecosystem. First of all, the breadth and depth of professional fields involved in human knowledge is far beyond the ability of an organization, a company, or even a country to fully master independently. Secondly, in the process of building a knowledge graph, there are multiple links that require human participation, including collection, extraction, disambiguation, and fusion, which means that the cost of building a knowledge graph in each professional field is not low. Finally, and the most difficult problem is that due to the high cost of building a knowledge graph, most people cannot build it alone, which means that many AIs need to use knowledge graphs provided by third parties to build cognitive capabilities.

As we all know, many giants have entered the knowledge graph market, such as Google, Facebook, Apple, etc. However, these knowledge graphs are built around the needs of these giants and are not interconnected. If the third-party knowledge graph data that is relied on is maliciously tampered with, it will directly lead to cognitive disorder in many AIs and then out of control.

In the process of AI evolving from perceptual intelligence to cognitive intelligence, the integration of blockchain technology first solves the third-party trust problem, and the data security, reliability and tamper-proofing are realized; secondly, EPIK generates knowledge bases through co-construction and sharing, which not only reduces the cost of collecting data, but also generates it once and shares it multiple times. The cost of using data for external data services is also lower.

Eric from Mingshi Protocol: There are 4 roles in the EpiK ecological mechanism: domain experts, bounty hunters, knowledge gateways and knowledge miners.

Domain experts are the organizers and inspectors of knowledge graph data, and are the only group in the entire system that has the right to upload knowledge graph data. They earn income by contributing high-quality knowledge graph data. Of course, as the only group in the entire system that has the right to upload data, there is a strict supervision mechanism for domain experts.

First, domain experts must be nominated by people who are already domain experts. After being nominated, domain experts also need to obtain the support of community votes. Each vote means that one EPK is locked. Once the number of votes (locked EPK number) of domain experts is less than the minimum threshold, they will lose their qualifications. If domain experts upload false or junk data, the community will punish them by delisting them, and the person who nominated the delisted domain expert will also be punished jointly.

The task of generating knowledge graph data is arduous and difficult for domain experts to complete independently, so the system also designs bounty hunter roles. They are collectors and labelers of knowledge graph data, and they earn income by completing various tasks issued by domain experts.

In addition, there are two core roles: knowledge miners and knowledge gateways. Knowledge miners are storage and bandwidth equipment providers for knowledge graph data, and earn revenue by providing data storage and data access services. The more data stored, the higher the revenue; the greater the data download traffic provided, the higher the revenue. At the same time, in order to prevent data miners from going offline at will, resulting in reduced data backup and reduced system security, all data miners need to pledge a portion of EPK to become data miners. Knowledge gateways are the only way for users to obtain the latest first-hand knowledge graph data, and knowledge gateways need to pledge EPK to obtain data access traffic. Then the more demand there is for knowledge graph data on EpiK, the more EPKs will be pledged by knowledge gateways, the demand for EPKs will increase, and the more valuable the EPKs obtained by contributors will be.

The collaborative relationship between them is also clearer. Domain experts voted by users sort out various knowledge graphs and assign tasks to bounty hunters. Bounty hunters obtain rewards by completing labeling tasks. The knowledge graph data is uploaded to the chain after inspection by domain experts and stored by miners. Users can obtain knowledge graphs through the gateway, thus realizing the automated collaborative process of knowledge graph sorting, labeling, storage and application.

Eric from Mingshi Protocol: As a decentralized knowledge graph collaboration platform, EpiK’s ecological design covers all aspects of knowledge graph construction, storage, incentives, transaction circulation, etc.

At the construction level, in order to organize the world to jointly build a knowledge graph network, DAO was introduced to solve the problem of how to divide voting rights so that each game result can be close to the decision-making problem of maximizing the interests of the group under the premise that the interests of each role such as field experts, miners, bounty hunters, and users within the ecological group are different.

At the storage level, the advantages of Filecoin technology are integrated, and the incentive problem is solved by designing storage proof, and the replication proof and time-space proof are designed in combination with zero-knowledge proof technology to solve the cheating problem. At the same time, EPIK, as the second-layer network of Filecoin, will regularly upload snapshots of data in various fields to Filecoin. In order to help these users smoothly participate in the collaboration of the decentralized knowledge graph ecosystem, we provide them with decentralized lending services based on the Mingshi protocol.

For example, if a user holds mainstream BTC assets and needs to use epk to access knowledge base data or initiate voting, he can exchange BTC for eBTC through the cross-chain gateway of the Mingshi Protocol, and then over-collateralize eBTC through the lending service of the Mingshi Protocol to borrow EPK, pledge EPK to become a miner to mine EPK, or vote to become a domain expert to obtain continuous EPK rewards, or pledge EPK to download the required knowledge graph data. The criterion for judging network activity is the proportion of EPK pledged by the entire network to obtain daily access traffic to the total circulation (1EPK=10Mb/day). If the demand for data decreases, it requires domain experts to provide higher-quality data. This is like when there are more visitors in the library, more seats are needed, that is, spending money to let miners increase bandwidth.
