Greenidge will offset its Bitcoin mining emissions by purchasing a portfolio of carbon offset credits

According to BlockBeats, on May 16, Greenidge, a New York-based bitcoin miner and power plant, announced that the company will begin to offset greenhouse gas emissions from bitcoin mining by purchasing a portfolio of carbon offset credits starting June 1 to achieve carbon neutrality. Each project in the carbon offset credit portfolio is subject to review and certification by the American Carbon Registry (ACR), the Climate Action Conservation Area (CAR), and Verra. In addition to offsetting carbon emissions from bitcoin mining, Greenidge also intends to invest part of its mining profits in renewable energy projects, and is actively seeking direct financing for renewable energy projects in New York State and across the country.
