Starting from August 3, Google will allow advertisers to serve cryptocurrency exchange and wallet ads to users in the United States. However, advertisers must meet the following requirements:
(a) is registered with FinCEN as a money services business and has at least one state money transmitter license; or (b) Registration as a federal or state trust licensee.
Meanwhile, Google reiterated its ban on ads that promote initial coin offerings (ICOs), DeFi trading protocols, or otherwise facilitate the purchase, sale, or trading of cryptocurrencies or related products. As early as 2018, due to concerns about crypto scams, after Facebook removed crypto ads, Google also banned crypto ads in its search engine, including initial token issuance, exchanges, wallets, and other types of services related to the industry. In September 2018, Google announced that it would resume accepting crypto-related ads, allowing regulated trading platforms to purchase ads in the United States and Japan. |
