How Swarm differs from IPFS

There are subtle but important differences in the design of the two projects that may allow the two projects to keep each other stable and continue to develop on their respective tracks:

IPFS has been shown to scale fairly reasonably, and Swarm has just begun to be tested at larger scales (although Swarm is built on top of DevP2P, and the Ethereum P2P networking layer itself requires little testing)

IPFS has been open for a longer time and has recruited a group of users. Swarm has not yet been truly launched. Testing nodes have just begun, and the main network is expected to be launched in the second quarter of this year.
