Bitmain issues an internal letter to all employees on protecting the company’s intellectual property and trade secrets

On June 16, Bitmain sent an email to all employees signed by Chairman Zhan Ketuan, stating that Bitmain will spare no effort to crack down on any infringement of intellectual property rights or commercial leaks. The original content of the email is as follows:

Dear Bitmain colleagues,

Hello everyone! This is a serious email, please read it carefully.

On May 13, 2021, Beijing Bitmain sent a lawyer's letter to Beijing Chaomo Company, requesting it not to infringe our intellectual property rights and trade secrets. On June 15, 2021, our company received a lawyer's letter from Chaomo Company, arguing that Fan Jing, Wang Haichao, and Zou Tong "could not have infringed your (Bitmain) intellectual property rights, let alone caused you any losses." On the same day, Chaomo Company posted a recruitment advertisement on the Internet, and the positions and responsibilities recruited were almost exactly the same as those of our company.

The Chaomo series of companies are controlled by Fan Jing, Wang Haichao and Zou Tong. Fan Jing was once the chip R&D director and director of Bitmain, and Wang Haichao was once the CEO and director of Bitmain. The two of them did not show due responsibility in the past two years, and finally chose to start their own business with our company's trade secrets. Such character is impossible to defeat the enemy and create the future in the fierce business war. Zou Tong was also the hardware R&D director of Bitmain. There is no doubt that Fan, Wang and Zou have important technologies and trade secrets of Bitmain, and they also have non-competition and confidentiality obligations to Bitmain.

No matter how Fan, Wang and Zou defend themselves, whether they have infringed Bitmain's intellectual property rights is not determined by Chaomo's lawyer's letter, but by law and facts. Bitmain will not only pursue the civil legal liability of these three and Chaomo for intellectual property infringement and unfair competition, but will also report their illegal and criminal acts to the public security organs. Bitmain has sufficient experience and resources in this regard, and I hope they will respect themselves!

We remind all employees of the company again: the company's intellectual property rights are the fruits of our joint labor, and we should all cherish and protect them. The company will also spare no effort to crack down on intellectual property infringements. Please keep a distance from Chaomo company personnel, strengthen your awareness of prevention, and avoid leaking the company's trade secrets in normal social activities, thereby causing irreparable economic losses to the company and even violating the law. In addition, we also remind all employees that Long Shuang, Li Chao and Zhang Qu are also partners of Fan, Wang and Zou, so please keep a distance from them.
