Nationwide Building Society to review its cryptocurrency policy

Nationwide Building Society is reviewing its policy on cryptocurrency trading, according to a report by British business news publication Financial News.
The bank joins other financial institutions in the U.K. that have been reviewing their policies toward the crypto space, including Westminster Bank and Barclays.
Nationwide told the publication that it is monitoring cryptocurrency activity and putting additional safeguards in place for activity that could make its customers more vulnerable to fraud. These include blocking suspicious payments and providing “customized scam alerts.”
Barclays said on Monday it is blocking customers from using their debit and credit cards to make payments to cryptocurrency exchange Binance, although the move does not prevent them from withdrawing funds from the exchange.
In June, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced that Binance would not be allowed to carry out any regulated activities in the country.
