On August 2, Sergey Shevkov, head of the market at Russia's national technology initiative FinNet and founder of fintech company Ckassa, predicted to Sputnik News Agency that by 2025, countries may require cryptocurrency holders to undergo mandatory identity verification. “By 2025, there will no longer be any anonymous cryptocurrencies in widespread circulation in the world, and states will require all digital currency holders to undergo identity verification,” he said during the “Archipelago 2121” project in Veliky Novgorod. Shevkov believes that the public's demand for the security of their funds and resources has driven the trend towards transparency and state control. The "privacy zone" of deposits and savings will be retained, but digital currency as a means of circulation will be non-anonymous. The expert noted that the state is already successfully identifying individuals through digital tracking and comprehensive behavioral patterns, and its role as a financial market participant should not be underestimated. |
