Nomura Holdings Inc., Japan’s largest financial brokerage, has launched a subscription service that gives customers the opportunity to buy and trade gourmet food from a high-end Italian takeout service. The blockchain-based security token represents four luxury food packages from Japanese chef Masayuki Okuda. Okuda, who owns two long-established restaurants in the Japanese capital of Tokyo, is known for his unique cooking style, and he often serves customers niche delicacies, including olive-fed beef and Tsuyama chicory. The Italian restaurant’s annual subscription fee is 60,000 yen, equivalent to $546, in addition to an upfront membership fee of 3,000 yen ($27.30). According to the service’s website, dishes available to customers on the takeout menu include pumpkin ravioli, corn chicken dumplings, asparagus pizza, and more. In addition, starting next year, token owners will have the opportunity to trade the food assets they purchase. (Cointelegraph) |
