According to the "Invest in You: Next Gen Investor" survey conducted by CNBC in cooperation with Acorn and Momentive on August 31, the proportion of men investing in cryptocurrency in the United States is twice that of women (16% for men and 7% for women), which exceeds the gender imbalance in other investments: stocks (40% for men and 24% for women), ETFs (14% for men and 7% for women), mutual funds (30% for men and 20% for women), real estate (36% for men and 30% for women) and bonds (14% for men and 11% for women). The survey was conducted from August 4 to 9, 2021, with 5,530 American adults participating, of which 2,980 invested in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs or cryptocurrencies. About one in ten Americans (11%) invested in cryptocurrencies, and cryptocurrencies are the only financial vertical where young people have a higher participation rate than older people: 15% of those aged 18-34, 11% of those aged 35-64, and only 4% of those aged 65 and above. The racial holdings are similar: White 11%, Black 11%, Hispanic 10%, Asian 14%, and other races 13%. |
