Twitter is now offering Bitcoin and Ethereum tipping for content creators

In May this year, Twitter officials said that they hope to enable users to better support each other in addition to following, forwarding and liking each other, so the platform will introduce the TipJar function - allowing users to send and receive tips to each other.
Now, there is the latest development. Twitter is reportedly preparing to provide Bitcoin tips for content creators. According to MacRumors, the platform is currently testing it for the iOS Beta operating system. Twitter's latest beta update introduces the "TipJar" feature to allow content creators to receive Bitcoin tips in the future. The code in the Twitter beta seems to indicate that this feature is in the works.
Previously, Twitter allowed users to add Bandcamp, CashApp, Patreon, PayPal, and Venmo links to their profiles. According to the Twitter beta update, the tipping feature will use the Lightning Network for small Bitcoin payments and will support both custodial and non-custodial wallets.

Italian mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi posted a screenshot on Twitter saying that the latest Twitter iOS beta contains code that enables Bitcoin to become part of the "TipJar", which means that Twitter is working on the function of users receiving Bitcoin tips.
It is reported that Twitter will use Strike to generate Bitcoin lightning invoices, so users need to connect their accounts to accept Bitcoin tips. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey hinted at this move in July. This move may make cryptocurrency and token tipping mainstream to achieve one of the important use cases of cryptocurrency. However, it is not clear when the feature will be officially released.

It is predicted that if the above functions are launched, Bitcoin's second-layer solution will be further developed and the capacity of the lightning network will be greatly improved.
The launch of the Bitcoin tipping feature is just one of the Bitcoin-focused applications developed by the social media giant Twitter and Jack Dorsey himself. In July, Jack Dorsey revealed that Square is developing a "assisted custody" hardware wallet for Bitcoin and a Bitcoin-based DeFi service. In early August, Jack Dorsey said that a decentralized trading platform would be built for Bitcoin. Jack Dorsey described Bitcoin as "key to Twitter's future" and said that the company intends to integrate Bitcoin into services such as commerce and subscriptions.

According to the latest screenshots released by developer Alessandro Paluzzi on September 3, the Twitter app version has Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet address options in the settings toolbar.

Although the news at this stage has not been officially disclosed by Twitter, Twitter product director Kayvon Beykpour retweeted Alessandro Paluzzi’s post on September 1 about the Bitcoin tipping feature, and used lightning and arrows to hint that this will happen soon.
Considering that Jack Dorsey is a typical Bitcoin maximalist, the plan to support Bitcoin as a tip for content creators is expected, but he has not been interested in Ethereum in the past (he has repeatedly stated that he will not invest in Ethereum). The tipping function supports both Bitcoin and Ethereum, which also indirectly shows that Ethereum is winning the acceptance and support of Bitcoin maximalists with its broad consensus and strong use cases. In the future blockchain world, Bitcoin and Ethereum are indispensable. (Blockchain Headlines)
