Digital RMB Beijing Winter Olympics pilot sprint domestic and foreign consumers will be able to choose soft and hard wallets

On November 19, the reporter learned from the central bank that the construction of the digital RMB Beijing Winter Olympics pilot scenario is progressing smoothly and has entered the sprint stage.

Digital RMB covers almost all Winter Olympics scenarios

As the "Winter Olympics atmosphere" heats up, the digital RMB Beijing Winter Olympics scenario pilot, as an important part of the digital RMB research and development pilot and the Winter Olympics preparations, is also being steadily and orderly promoted.

According to the central bank, the construction of the digital RMB pilot scenario for the Beijing Winter Olympics is progressing smoothly and has entered the sprint stage. In the Beijing competition area, the construction of the acceptance environment is being accelerated. Among them, the scenarios within the Winter Olympics Organizing Committee Park have been completed, the construction of the digital RMB acceptance environment within the Winter Olympics security red line is being promoted simultaneously with the construction of the venues, and seven major scenarios outside the Winter Olympics security red line, including transportation, catering and accommodation, shopping, tourism, medical care, communication services, ticketing and entertainment, have been fully covered.

For example, in terms of transportation, it is now possible to connect the digital RMB to ride through the Yitongxing APP and Yikatong APP, and complete the support of digital RMB ticket purchase and recharge at the manual ticket windows and self-service machines of rail transit. In terms of shopping and consumption, key business districts such as Wangfujing and Century Golden Resources and chain stores such as Wumart Supermarket have supported the use of digital RMB for shopping and consumption. In terms of medical and health care, 23 designated hospitals have supported the acceptance of digital RMB. In terms of cultural tourism, the offline ticket purchase scene of the Badaling Great Wall,

The digital RMB acceptance environment has been completed for the palace’s self-operated entertainment stores and the ticket purchasing and shopping scenes in the Old Summer Palace scenic area.

In the Zhangjiakou competition area, payment scenarios within the Winter Olympics security red line are basically fully covered. Five payment scenarios in completed venues have been 100% implemented; 14 payment scenarios in uncompleted venues have been 100% signed, and the remaining more than 30 payment scenarios under construction have completed 100% merchant docking.

In addition, the central bank said that all scenarios outside the Winter Olympics security red line are being steadily promoted. In terms of transportation, Ningyuan Airport, Zhangjiakou's highways, and gas stations have all opened public wallets; Chongli public transportation has achieved full coverage of digital currency payment; in terms of medical and health care, the Winter Olympics designated hospitals and more than 300 pharmacies in the pilot area have all realized the digital RMB acceptance function. In terms of contracted hotels, 21 Winter Olympics contracted hotels have officially implemented digital RMB payment (including 4 hotels under construction), and the remaining 7 hotels are under construction.

Domestic and foreign consumers can choose soft and hard wallets

According to the central bank, the digital RMB Beijing Winter Olympics scenario pilot follows the principles of "prudent, convenient, safe and voluntary". According to the closed-loop management arrangement of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the digital RMB Winter Olympics scenario pilot will focus on the areas within the Winter Olympics security red line, with the main goal of ensuring and facilitating payment options for consumers at home and abroad.

Consumers at home and abroad can choose independently a digital RMB soft wallet in the form of a mobile APP or a digital RMB hard wallet that does not rely on a mobile phone based on their own habits and preferences.

Among them, the digital RMB soft wallet service is provided through the digital RMB APP, which is very similar to the mobile payment experience that users are accustomed to. The hard wallet is one of the important innovative achievements of the digital RMB, with the characteristics of small amount and anonymity, including card-type hard wallets, bracelet hard wallets and other forms, which can be obtained and used anonymously, which is safe, convenient and fully protects personal privacy, and fully meets the user's small amount and anonymous payment needs.

Within the security red line, digital RMB-related services will be mainly provided by the Bank of China, the official banking partner of the Beijing Winter Olympics. Users can conveniently obtain and open digital RMB wallets through Bank of China outlets, hard wallet self-service exchange machines, designated hotels and other channels, and use digital RMB in various consumption scenarios in the closed-loop area.

"Small amounts are anonymous, large amounts can be traced according to law", fully protecting personal privacy

Recently, my country has promulgated a number of laws, including the Data Security Law and the Personal Information Protection Law, to strengthen data security and privacy protection from a legislative level.

Regarding the digital RMB, the central bank also responded to some consumers' concerns about its security.

The central bank said that the digital RMB fully protects personal information and has adopted a sound institutional arrangement and technical design. From the perspective of the security of the digital RMB itself, under the guidance of the People's Bank of China, a multi-level security prevention and control system for the digital RMB has been initially established, which can ensure the security of the entire life cycle and controllable risks through multiple lines of defense.

In terms of anonymity, the digital RMB adopts the principle of "small amounts are anonymous, large amounts can be traced according to law", and follows the principle of "minimum and necessary" when collecting personal information, and the amount of information collected is less than that of existing electronic payment tools. At the same time, the storage and use of personal information are strictly controlled, and relevant information shall not be provided to any third party or government agency unless there are clear legal provisions.

Among them, the digital RMB soft wallet is divided into one, two, three and four categories according to the authentication method and the degree of real name. The fourth category of wallets can be opened with only a mobile phone number, which maximizes anonymity. The digital RMB hard wallet can be obtained and used anonymously, which is safe, convenient and fully protects personal privacy.
