BTC, ETH, DeFi, and CHatGPT: Moments that require mental liberation

A few days ago ( late March 2023 ) , I was chatting with a few friends live, and I was talking about how awesome ChatGPT was. A friend interrupted me and asked me to ask ChatGPT a question live. Then ChatGPT failed and gave a completely irrelevant answer.

I was collectively laughed at.

My heart was calm as water, and I wanted to laugh. Because we were so close, I despised the three of them. "You three are just middle-aged greasy men in thought, mocking new things to show that you know everything. You use your old system to apply to everything, and you think everything is under control . You are going to be overthrown."

Of course, I also said tactfully that the backbone of society must be conservatism. Without conservatism like yours as a ballast, social fluctuations will be too great, and more and faster people like us who are the pioneers of reform and opening up will die.

Let me think back on the stories of greasy thinking vs. liberated thinking that I have encountered over the past decade or so .

In the late 1990s , I got a Subor learning machine, which could be used to practice typing in the form of games. I connected it to my home 14- inch Snowflake TV and typed away.

I told my dad that from now on I should just use this thing instead of practicing calligraphy.

My colleagues laughed at me for chasing fashion and falling into a trap.

I joked with my colleagues that this thing is free, you can get a free phone if you top up your phone bill. China Unicom dares to spend hundreds of millions to buy millions of mobile phones and give them to you for free. Do you think you are smarter than the boss of China Unicom, or do you think you are richer than China Unicom?

It should be in 2011 , when WeChat was not very popular and everyone used QQ. I advised my high school classmates to stop using QQ and switch to WeChat.

A classmate compared my WeChat with QQ and said that your thing is far inferior to QQ.

I despised him and said, "My damn QQ burned 100 degrees of electricity just to get three suns . Once WeChat came out, it was always online. QQ will definitely not last long."

Truck drivers would plug a water pipe into the fuel tank every now and then, take a big sip, often drink it all, and then put the oil into their own buckets and take it home.

For enterprises, expensive cars, easy breakdowns, short battery life, and slow recharging are not a big deal. The real problem is oil theft.

Regarding electric cars, I have been laughed at by my friends for more than 8 years . They laughed at me for being an environmentalist who doesn’t understand cars. Until 2022 ...

But the above are all trivial matters, and whether it is greasy or not actually has little to do with it. But a few years ago, I finally encountered something that has a great relationship with wealth: an open mind makes you rich, while an greasy mind makes you lose money.

In 2014 , I saw Bitcoin and thought it was awesome and great. . . . . I was so amazed that I spent all my money on it. It was a pity that I was poor at the time. . . .

People around me think I have a serious mental illness.

At that time, I was unemployed and staying at home. My parents thought that I was crazy for talking about Bitcoin all the time at such a grown-up.

My sister told me, why don’t we pool some money together to help you open a store...

During that period, I felt very low in self-esteem and doubted myself every day. I almost trusted my relatives and friends, and almost surrendered to them. I almost disappeared from the cryptocurrency world.

Thinking back to that time, I thought of the conversation between Tang Xiaolong and An Xin standing on the roof.

Yes, at that time, I was so poor that I looked down on myself. I was so poor that I would calculate whether a meal cost 10 or 15 yuan for takeout . How could I not be moved by the misunderstanding of almost all my relatives and friends?

It is more likely that it is my natural pride that makes me insist that I am right and they are all greasy-minded.

I am sincerely grateful to those friends who trusted me, encouraged me, helped me and took me in during that period.

After being deeply rooted in the blockchain industry, there are too many moments that require ideological liberation, and each time will affect wealth.

In 2016 , I saw Ethereum's ERC 20 standard shine , and ICOs were booming in the entire industry.

But I was too fussy at the time and looked down on all those pyramid schemes, thinking they were all scams. I still put all my money on BTC. Even though the ETH ecosystem was so perfect, I still ignored it. What a sad past.

In 2017 , EOS was another moment of liberation and ideological confrontation. At that time, I firmly believed that EOS was an immature system and it was not worth investing too many resources in it. I became a conservative.

But I wanted to make up for the loss I made on ETH on EOS, so I invested some money in EOS and successfully stopped the profit.

In 2018 , the split between BCH and BTC was another huge ideological split. Alas, it’s a sad past, so let’s not talk about it .

In 2020 , DeFi, I stood firmly on the side of emancipating my mind and benefited from it.

In 2023 , ChatGPT once again ushered in a fierce debate between emancipating the mind and greasy thinking. I firmly stand on the side of emancipating the mind, and I believe that within three years, ChatGPT's transformation of society will be terrifying.

If you can't see the greatness of ChatGPT, then go wash your hair. You must have greasy hair and face and greasy thoughts.

We tend to regard our thoughts as ourselves. When our thoughts are challenged and denied, we naturally feel that it is we who are challenged and denied. In fact, thoughts exist objectively and are external to the body.

We are always confused by what we already know and what we have seen with our own eyes. In fact, the world is so big that the sum of the power of those things we cannot see is far, far greater than the sum of the power of what we know and see.
